The heat produced by ceramic emitters used for brooding chicks is enormous and using household lamp holders can be very dangerous as they are prone to melting when exposed to such heat over a prolonged period of time. Household bulbs are designed to produce light and heat is a by-product. The ceramic emitters used in brooding are designed to emit heat only so it is no surprise household bulb fittings melt.

These ceramic bulb holders are designed specifically to cope with the heat produced by ceramic heat emitters during brooding.

Although available individually they fit together with the budget aluminium reflectors to make the full lamp fitting ready for the emitter.
