Item Description

Worming birds is often such a hassle that it gets put off. When you actually get round to it you feel liberated as the weight is lifted from your shoulders and you wonder why you didn’t just bite the bullet in the first place.

Infestation of worms usually occurs through contact with wild birds, and it should be remembered that wild birds will always end up perching on aviary roofs and their droppings will find their way through to your birds.

Soil floors also hold infection and, if you use wild green foods, there is another area of risk.

Of course, once a bird has contracted worms its own droppings will become a source of reinfection.

Cage birds can be infected with three internal parasite species, namely the common Roundworms (ascaridia galli), as well as Caecal Worms (heterakis gallinarum) and Hairworms (Capillaria spp). Tetramisole is the anthelmintic of choice for the treatment of all three types.

For the ongoing fitness of your birds they should be wormed regularly and three moth intervals are recommended for treatment. However, aviary and cage hygiene also needs to be maintained.

ANTHEL Three in One Bird Wormer is simply added to the water in the cage or aviary when required and has no harmful side effects on cage birds, nor will it depress egg laying, It requires 15 times the correct dose to produce any lethal effects. It presents no health danger to other domestic pets or children.

Anthel is administered according to body weight of the birds being treated and the table below will help you to calculate your dosage. ANTHEL three in one Bird Wormer must be added to fresh drinking water at the rate of 1mL of wormer per 50 gram live weight of bird.

For example, an aviary containing 10 Budgerigar, 10 Zebra finches, and 2 Brown Quail together have a total live weight of 700 grams. 700 gram of birds require 14ml (2 caps full) added to one days drinking water.

Ensure that the wormer is added only to drinking water that will be consumed in 24 hours. Water consumption will vary, depending in geographical location and/or season of the year so it may pay to measure the amount of water drunk over a 24 hour period.

Alternatively it may be administered orally to larger birds or added at the appropriate dose to wet feed.
