The deep well of this drinker is similar to the beak type drinker, but more rounded in design.  The deep ‘well’  makes the drinker suitable  for birds that prefer/need to submerge their beaks into the water to drink, such as doves etc.

The difference between this and the beak drinker is really cosmetic as much as anything, and they are made by a different manufacturer.

The base has grooves moulded behind the fountain that the cage bars or aviary mesh clip into to hold the drinker in place, so no support bracket or hook is required. Simply slide the fountain through the bars (where there is a little flexibility) and then slide it down the bars towards where the bars are held in place and are therefore not so flexible. This system works well and we have used it for many years, despite initial scepticism.
